Research-led HealthTech in development
Multimodal intelligence for more informed anxiety care
Synapsona is developing a clinician-facing decision-support approach that brings clinical, cognitive, personality and neurophysiological information into one interpretable patient profile
Validation stage · Clinician in the loop · Privacy by design
The challenge
Complex treatment decisions are still built from fragmented information
Anxiety care can involve symptoms, cognitive functioning, personality-related patterns and neurophysiological signals. These sources are often assessed separately, making it difficult to form one coherent and clinically actionable view
Limited longitudinal view
Symptom change alone may not capture the full cognitive and functional picture over time
Unclear treatment pathways
Clinicians need evidence that helps structure when CBT, cognitive rehabilitation or a combined pathway should be considered
Fragmented assessment
Relevant information may sit across questionnaires, cognitive tools and specialist reports
Our approach
One interpretable profile across four evidence domains
The proposed platform is designed to organise complementary information without replacing clinical judgement
Neurophysiology
QEEG-derived features explored for their incremental value beyond simpler measures
Personality
Clinically relevant dimensions that may influence treatment engagement and response
Cognitive
Attention, working memory, inhibition and processing-related performance
Clinical
Validated symptom and treatment-outcome measures
From multimodal assessment to a clearer clinical conversation
Monitor
Track relevant clinical and cognitive change over time under professional supervision
Interpret
Present patterns, uncertainty and limitations in a clinician-facing view
Integrate
Bring the available signals into a quality-controlled multimodal profile
Assess
Collect structured clinical, cognitive, personality and eligible neurophysiological inputs
Initial focus
A focused research-to-clinic pathway for GAD
The first development programme focuses on Generalized Anxiety Disorder. The aim is to investigate whether a structured multimodal profile can support research and future clinical decision-making around CBT, computerised cognitive rehabilitation and combined pathways
The proposed system is in development and has not yet been independently validated for clinical treatment selection
Research foundation
Built from a completed randomised four-arm intervention study
The concept originates from prospectively collected data from 60 adults across CBT, computerised cognitive rehabilitation, combined intervention and waiting-list control conditions. The research includes clinical outcomes and multimodal assessment data that can support carefully controlled secondary analyses and future hypothesis generation
This dataset is a proof-of-concept and feasibility asset. It is not presented as sufficient evidence for a generalisable clinical prediction system
Why the Netherlands
A strong environment for responsible clinical validation
The Netherlands offers a connected ecosystem across mental healthcare, clinical research, digital health and responsible AI. We aim to develop the next stage with Dutch academic and clinical partners, generate evidence in local practice, and build a GDPR-conscious and clinically usable workflow
What makes it measurable
Planned Dutch contribution
A defined validation partner, protocol and pilot milestones.
Clinical and academic collaboration
Transparent analyses, dissemination and reproducibility work.
Specialised knowledge creation
Human oversight, data governance and early regulatory planning.
Responsible product development
A Dutch-validated workflow designed for later adaptation to other EU settings.
European growth potential
Collaborate with us
Help shape a clinically useful validation programme
We are seeking conversations with Dutch GGZ providers, university researchers, neuropsychology and cognitive-rehabilitation specialists, QEEG and neurophysiology services, and advisers in medical software, data protection and clinical implementation.

Frequently asked questions
Is Synapsona a diagnostic tool?
No. Synapsona is currently a research and development initiative. The proposed platform is intended to support qualified professionals and is not offered as a diagnostic service.
Does the platform replace clinical judgement?
No. Human oversight and clinician interpretation are central to the proposed workflow.
Why include QEEG?
QEEG is being explored as one potential information source. Its incremental value must be tested against simpler and less costly clinical models.
What stage is the project at?
The project is at the validation and pre-MVP stage, supported by an existing research dataset and a defined development plan.
Who can collaborate?
We welcome relevant conversations with Dutch clinical providers, universities, research groups and specialists in digital-health implementation, data governance and medical-software regulation.
Interested in responsible multimodal mental-health research?
We would value a conversation about clinical validation, research collaboration or responsible implementation in the Netherlands
